With much of the US in drought situations and trying to conserve water I wanted to give some easy ways you can save water…which you can/should be doing regardless of if your area is in drought situation or not.
Some of these may seem like common sense things that you’ve been told before, but do you really apply them???
Shut off the water while brushing your teeth.
Use a water conserving shower head.
You can choose from few different ones here along with faucet Aerators, toilet tank water conserving kits and other water conserving products.
Faucets account for 15.7% of all indoor water use.
That means the average family of 4 uses about 44 gallons of water per day from their faucets.
Up to 60% of this water consumption could be reduced with the use of low-flow aerators.

Saves $82/yr if water is heated with electricity and $59/yr (5 year Lifetime savings of $295 for energy alone) if heated with gas vs standard 2.2 gpm faucet aerator.
Attach an adjustable nozzle to your water hose.
This enables you to be able to adjust the water flow as well as totally shut if off when you don’t need it running, wasting water.
Don’t let this be you:
This is how it should be done:
Get one that has a variety of spray patterns:
# Mist: for raising humidity and misting levels.
# Soak: gentle flow for deep watering
# Jet: highâpowered spray for blasting dirt.
# Cone: strong, wide pattern for cleaning, sweeping and rinsing.
# Shower: for watering delicate plants
Wash your clothes less often.
If you wore a shirt for a few hours and it’s not dirty, don’t automatically toss it in the dirty laundry.
If your kids go through 3 or 4 changes of a clothes a day…curb that habit. I know kids who put on an outfit, wear it for an hour and t hen put in laundry and go put on another outfit. That’s just wasteful. Wasteful of water, energy.
Line dry your clothes when possible. I know weather and other elements may not allow you to do so but if you’re able to..then do it!
If you can’t line dry outside, consider buying a drying rack for indoor use.
